Developed by Professional Trainers

GentleSteps™ was developed through a collaboration between Lester Pullen of Hidden Fence and the late Rich Weinssen of New Jersey.

In 2001, Lester introduced this method to professional dog trainers at the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP).
Today, it is recognized as one of the most effective, low-stress training approaches in the hidden dog fence industry.

While many companies now claim to offer “gentle” training, true success with low-level stimulation requires precise, real-time adjustability, not preset levels based on breed or size. GentleSteps™ gives us thousands of fine-tuned settings so we can tailor the training specifically to your dog.

Training That Lets Dogs Think

Dogs learn best when they are allowed to process information and make decisions, not when they are simply forced to react out of fear.

  • ✔ Faster learning with significantly less stress
  • ✔ Clear understanding of their boundaries
  • ✔ Reliable behavior even with strong distractions
  • ✔ Builds confidence instead of fear or anxiety

A Smarter, More Humane Approach

Many hidden fence systems rely heavily on correction. GentleSteps™ is different.

It focuses on clear communication, gradual learning, and helping your dog truly understand where the boundary is,
creating better long-term results and a much happier dog.
