Hidden Fence is a 100% veteran-owned company founded in 1996. Lester Pullen, a former Navy Rescue Swimmer, brings discipline, commitment, and decades of hands-on experience to every installation and training.
Before starting Hidden Fence, Lester worked with several major pet containment brands — including years with Invisible Fence®. That experience provided valuable insight into both the strengths and limitations of traditional systems.
Where GentleSteps™ Began
Presented to professional trainers at IACP (2001)
As technology improved and our understanding of how dogs learn evolved, it became clear that training needed to change. In 2001, Lester introduced the GentleSteps™ Training Method to professional dog trainers at the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP).
This approach focuses on low-level, adjustable feedback and reward-based learning — allowing dogs to understand boundaries rather than simply react to them.

Hidden Fence was created to offer a more consumer-friendly alternative in an industry with limited choices. Instead of relying on one-size-fits-all solutions, we focus on customized systems and thoughtful training tailored to each dog.
